This grant provides 50% matching funds to public water supply systems for the development and implementation of a source water protection program to help prevent drinking water sources from becoming contaminated.
These funds can be used to develop a Surface Water Intake Protection Program for systems utilizing surface water or to develop a Wellhead Protection Program for those systems that use groundwater sources.
Grant eligible activities shall support the development or implementation of a local Source Water Protection (SWP) program and be consistent with the State of Michigan SWP program and is performed within the Source Water Protection Area (SWPA) or one-mile radius for low tritium public water supply wells.

Applicants must sign up for a MILogin Third Party account. Completed MiEHDWIS applications and all supporting attachments must be submitted in MiEHDWIS no later than June 15 of each year.
